Concert in Woy Woy
Performing in conjunction with Brisbane Water Brass, on the 24th of March we travel up to Woy Woy to the Everglades Country Club. If you are a regular supporter, come along and join us for what should be a very enjoyable afternoon.
First Citizenship this Year!
On Wednesday the 20th of February we brush off the cobwebs of 2018 and perform in our usual time slot before the declaration of new citizens and certificate presentations. We start at the usual time of 5:30 pm
We kicked off the December festivities with a concert at Dulwich Hill Salvation Army Hall last Sunday. It was great to see so many fine young musicians performing to an audience, and also performing alongside our own players. A good time was had by all! Thanks to all those who came along.
Don't forget this Friday, the 7th of December we'll be once again at Engadine for the annual Rotary Carols for the People
Music of the War Years at Club Five Dock
We had a blast performing this concert once again, especially on November the 11th. We hope all those who attended had as much fun watching as we did performing! And thanks to Dallas Watts for his collaboration with this concert, and sharing his beautiful baritone voice with us.
We even resurrected the Andrews Sisters for the occasion!
Remembrance Day 2018
Leichhardt Celebrity Brass were once more in attendance this year at the Loyalty Square Centotaph for the Remembrance Day service commemorating 100 years since the signing of the Armistice which would end the World War 1 hostilities. As always, it was an auspicious occasion with a large crowd in attendance.
Music of the War Years
Our first Music of the War Years Concert was held on Sunday the 4th of November at Petersham RSL. It was a great success, with great wartime tunes, visuals, singalongs, a brilliant guest vocalist in Dallas Watts, as well as a surprise visit from the 'Andrews Sisters'!
If you couldn't make it to Petersham, or if you did and would like a repeat performance, come to Club Five Dock on Sunday the 11th of November at 2:00 pm. You won't be disappointed!
Mr Dallas Watts (baritone)
For our Armistice Centenary Concerts this year we were delighted to welcome Dallas Watts as a guest vocalist. Dallas performed the haunting 'Jerusalem', the hymn used to give hope to the soldiers fighting on the Western Front in World War One. He also performed the beautiful 'Requiem for a Soldier', the theme song from the television series 'Band of Brothers' and arranged for our band by Dennis Williams (Solo Horn). Apart from his solo performances, Dallas did a superb job in leading the many sing-along medleys. I'm sure the audience members, like the band performers will have those tunes buzzing around in their heads for weeks!
We are now very busy performing at Citizenship Ceremonies at three different venues! Once a month we welcome new citizens either at Leichhardt Town Hall, Ashfield Town Hall or Petersham Town Hall.
